# 3.12 Held Until Trial (HUT) Procedures

> Procedures for handling inmates held until trial, including cell placement, visitation restrictions, and coordination with DOJ/FIB.

Inmates held until trial (HUT) are those awaiting a court hearing before their sentence is finalised. They must be handled with additional care and coordination with the Department of Justice and FIB.

    On intake, verify with PD/FIB that the inmate is marked as HUT. Log this in the appropriate channel.

    HUT inmates are typically placed in Medium or High Security depending on FIB/DOJ classification.

  <Step title="Restrict visitation" icon="user-slash">
    All visitations for HUT inmates must be approved by FIB/DOJ in advance. Do not allow unapproved visitors.

  <Step title="Remove communication devices" icon="phone">
    Phones, radios, and any communication devices must be confiscated and logged, unless FIB/DOJ specifies otherwise.

    HUT inmates may have their time adjusted via `/jail hut` when running low. Coordinate with a Sergeant+ before making changes.
